Maple Creek, Tennessee, is getting ready for its Fourth of July celebration. At Daniels Crafts and Hobbies, Lila and Leo are juggling customers, patriotic projects, and enough glitter to cover the town. Then Lila discovers the body of Herman, a pushy stranger who has been asking uncomfortable questions about local businesses.
With her husband Leo and their tech-minded son Legend beside her, Lila begins looking more closely at her neighbors, their grudges, and the secrets hiding behind familiar storefronts. The holiday decorations may be cheerful, but figuring out who killed Herman is anything but simple.
